The inaugural KVOHA season was 1979-1980 when Dave Roberts and others started the league. The signup was in December 1979 and had 6 teams which played about 20 games from January thru April 1980. The season ended with a double elimination tournament in which Mike Kent's Battle Creak Bruins beat Mike Gruildea's Gliders 6-4 in the finals. The league has been running continuously since then.
